This past week sounded in many ways like any other here on the farm. Children playing, chickens clucking, cows mooing and guineas chattering. But missing was the sweet angelic voice of lovable ”Aunt Emmy” who left this world for her new home in heaven. Emily was Brandon’s wife of thirteen years and mom of Kaylie and Jordon.
Over the past four years Emily fought a courageous battle against a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer. Through it all she kept her faith, her smile, her contagious laugh, and her love for the farm – and all of us.
Mothering was Emily’s specialty although she was also a fine hairdresser and an even 
better friend. She lit up a room, always made others feel special, and never stopped being in wonder. She was a great mom, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, and aunt. Her sense of awe and excitement brought joy to us all. She lived in the moment and treasured the simple things.
Emily was saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ at age 11, and her faith in God was strong. With the voice of an angel she was a regular performer on the Cowboy Gospel Jubilee at the Cleveland Cowboy Church. A delightful, cheerful young woman, Emily loved telling others about Christ and singing praises to His name. In life, and in death, she was a comfort and an inspiration to us all.
So, for now, even amid the familiar noises of children playing, chickens clucking, cows mooing and guineas chattering – the silence is profound. Emily, we miss you.
